invisalign clear braces

Ever wanted to get your teeth straightened but were afraid it might hurt or cost too much? You are most likely a candidate for Invisalign® - the exciting new way to straighten your teeth without braces. Invisalign is an exciting new technology that straightens your teeth with a series of clear, customized, removable aligners. The aligner is a thin piece of medical grade plastic that fits over the teeth like a glove would fit on a hand. Hardly anyone can tell you’re going through treatment and because the aligners are removable, you can eat whatever you want during treatment.   "The Best Dentistry is the least Dentistry". Check out our Before and After pictures from patients who have had Invisalign treatments.

Invisalign Vs. Conventional Orthodontics (wires and brackets)

Most people want to know the differences and why one is better than the other. Invisalign and metal braces are just two different ways of doing orthodontics. Over time, people wanted a newer way to straighten teeth without the unsightly wires and brackets. They wanted something that didn't take as long and something that was easy for them to keep clean. For years, there have been a few systems developed to straighten teeth with clear aligners and Invisalign has become the standard for clear aligners and orthodontics. Orthodontics is a great tool that is best used when you are growing, to try to manipulate the jaw and make room for all your teeth and create a nice smile. However, many adults successfully use Invisalign to obtain the smile of their dreams. The typical patients that are being treated are:

  • Adult and adolescent patients who are doing orthodontics in preparation for some esthetic restorative work.
  • Adults who are in a field of work that demands esthetics, and can’t afford to have the wires and brackets putting a damper on their smile.
  • Teenagers who are in need of orthodontic care but don’t want the unsightly wires and brackets for junior high and high school photos, dances, etc.
  • Adults who have put their children through orthodontics, college, etc. and now would like to reward themselves with a nicer, straighter smile.

The minimum age for Invisalign depends on the patient. It can treat a vast majority of patients with fully-erupted molars. Usually this commonly occurs between the ages of twelve and fourteen. Some patients can be treated with a combination of braces and Invisalign. Talk with us about your interest in Invisalign and we can determine the appropriate treatment path for you. Whether you are concerned with overbite (overjet), crowding, spacing, or cosmetic ailments Invisalign can be used. Dr. Fakler will be able to determine the appropriate treatment plan for your particular case. If he feels that you are not a candidate for Invisalign, you will be notified at your consultation appointment.

How does Invisalign Treatment Work?

Your treatment process will begin with a consultation with Dr. Fakler. At this time he and his staff will also go over Invisalign thoroughly and answer any questions you may have. Once you have been determined eligible for treatment, a “records” appointment will be made. At your records appointment impression and photographs of your teeth and bite will be taken. We then send these to our Invisalign lab. At your next appointment your teeth will star in their very own movie. You will be presented with a ClinCheck which is literally a virtual representation of your treatment start to finish. You will actually be able to see the predicted results of your very own treatment. It is like a glimpse into the future of your perfect smile. It is at this appointment where the patient in-put is very important. They will evaluate their ClinCheck with our staff and determine if the end result meets their needs. Once approved, customized trays are made and treatment is begun.

Invisalign straightens teeth using a series of custom-made, nearly invisible, comfortable, removable aligners. Aligners are created at our lab with the help of advanced computer technology. Each set of aligners is worn for about 2 weeks. These aligners are removed only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move- little by little, week by week, until they have straightened to the position Dr. Fakler prescribed. You'll visit our office approximately once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 20. You can have perfectly straight teeth without months of wearing metal brackets and wires. And our office can walk you through it! Invisalign can give you the beautiful straight teeth you’ve always wanted. Our office will assist you through the entire procedure.
